Hi Subscriber First Name! Happy April, y’all! Did March fly by for you too? It’s always the busiest month in our family with two birthdays and our wedding anniversary, but this year we added in not one but TWO weddings. I’m still recovering from it all. I wish I could say it was the busyness of the month that kept me from reading more - only two books in March! - but in truth, I got a case of the dreaded Reading Slumps. More specifically, The Romance Reading Slumps. I don’t know what it is, but lately the thought of starting a new romance has seemed exhausting. They have been kind of blending together and no matter which romance book I tried to pull from my TBR, I just couldn’t get into it - until Lips Like Sugar. If I’m being truthful here, I only started it because it was an ARC and I felt obligated, but y’all, I was hooked from the first page. I posted about it over on Instagram, but in short, it’s a GenX romance where the MC’s are in their 50s and are dealing with everything that comes with being that age - back pains, menopause, caretaking, raising teens/grown kids, all while still being goofy Old Teens still figuring out love. It legit reminded me about everything I love about Romance and kickstarted my reading again. So, in my eternal optimism, I give you seven recs this month, more than HALF of which are romances! I will never quit this genre no matter how frustrated I get with it sometimes, lol.
