This is always a special time of year as we get to celebrate and support our friends and family in the LGBTQIA+ community, but y’all, it’s super needed this year with the ever-increasing amount of anti-trans/”don’t say gay” bills popping up throughout our country. If this is a topic that makes you uncomfortable and you wish to unsubscribe, please feel free - the link is below. This isn’t a threat - it’s just a non-negotiable for this here blog and newsletter. I 100% support and defend the rights of those in the LGBTQIA+ community all year, not just in June, and will continue to amplify those voices and causes both here and on social media.

That being said, let’s get to the good stuff - BOOKS! This month’s TBR picks have quite a few LGBTQIA+ books for you to read this month. This is by no means a complete list and there are a TON of Queer Creators that have already put together some amazing lists and recs for Pride Month, so I thought I would amplify and share those throughout the month over on Instagram. What Happened This Month Over on the Blog?

Since I was coming out of my April Reading Slump, I didn’t want to put even more pressure on myself to produce any reviews or bookish content. I mean, let’s be honest, if I couldn’t even bother to physically hold a tiny Kindle, there was no way I was going to write any sort of review about anything I read, lol.

So needless to say, there are no new reviews or podcasts to share, but I DO have:

So far, all of the printables I have created have centered around reading. I thought for this month, I’d create something a bit more versatile. This undated quarterly planner is great for future planning, goal setting, or if you want to keep it bookish, use it to track new releases or to content plan.

May Bookish News

The Good…

ApollyCon 2024 details were released this month! If you aren’t familiar with ApollyCon, it’s an annual three-day event for readers, featuring panels, parties, pop-up events, and of course, two days of author signings. It’s had some growing pains these past couple of years, but they’ve changed venues and have increased the number of attendees allowed, so I am hopeful for this next year’s event. I’ve only been once but I had an absolute blast and would love to go again.

The Bad…

HOO-BOY. This was a doozy. New Leaf Agency, who reps a lot of big names out there (Leigh Bardugo, Veronica Roth, Cassandra Clare), dropped one of their agents. That on its own is not a big deal, happens all the time in the book world, but in this case they not only dropped the agent but all of said agent’s clients. With no warning. Some of whom were in the middle of the production of their books. When I say it was a whole mess! These two articles do a good job of summarizing everything:

The Ugly…

Why are all Barnes & Noble stores being remodeled to look like airports? Don’t know what I mean, check out this TikTok who nails why I hate this new look so much. What do you think? Are you a fan?
