October means Halloween and Spooky Season and all that, yes, but it also means that it’s time for my annual re-read of Attachments by Rainbow Rowell. Have you read it? It’s gorgeous and slow and full of pining and I love it so much. I read it every October because of that quote above. It’s partly an epistolary novel told in emails, which sounds weird and a bit tedious, but I promise you that the format MAKES the story. But fair warning, it contains pregnancy loss and will not be for everyone. If you do read it, take care. (But also message me about it because I love Lincoln O’Neill with my whole heart.)

Do you have any annual reads? I have Attachments as noted, but I also read Jellicoe Road (usually in November) and throughout the year I cycle through Jane Austen’s works. I have them all on audiobook and they are always in rotation - Persuasion in spring, Pride & Prejudice or Emma in summer, Sense & Sensibility in the fall, and I alternate between Northanger Abbey and Mansfield Park in the winter. There’s just something comforting about annual reads. Knowing they are approaching and getting excited to spend time with these characters again. I can’t wait to be back in Nebraska with Lincoln and Beth.

And then, after that, I’m ready for some Witches, Demons, and Werewolves, so I hope you are too! I’ve got seven spooky-ish reads to share with you this month — ONTO THE BOOKS!

Unclear if this help includes ghostly versions of these famous detectives or just knowing their stories, but I’m excited to find out.
